Today’s reading is found in Luke 2:8-14 (NLT)
That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”
Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in highest heaven,
and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”
A question we often ask ourselves is, how can God’s love be so good, yet our world be so broken? When our lives are filled with so much suffering and heartache, our visceral response is to question the love of God. And while that wrestling is normal, it is important that we remind ourselves that this is not the life or world that God created or intended for us.
The same God who created us, desired a reconciled relationship with us, and made a path for that to happen is still the same God today who keeps His promises.
He is the same God who gave us Jesus – the only way to Him.
Don’t let this Christmas season pass without knowing the real promise of Christmas – Jesus.
If you have never repented of your sins and asked Jesus Christ to be your Savior, I can’t think of a better time.
The Promise of Christmas is Jesus!
