The History of Crossroads

Crossroads was started in 1996 to fill a need at Family Church. The church was desperate for a place to connect the young adults attending weekly services. Michael Stravato was the key leader in the formation of the ministry, and he along with student leaders Denee Noland, John Gist, and Michael O’Neal II helped build the foundation for the Crossroads College and Career group. Since those beginning days Crossroads has seen hundreds of young adults come through this ministry.

Throughout the years Crossroads has continually been committed to being a place for the young adults of our church to get connected to like minded Christians. Crossroads as a ministry has adapted and changed through the years, but it has always been dedicated to being a place for fellowship, discipleship, and authentic community.

Who knows what the future holds for Crossroads? One thing is for certain, if the past is any indication of the future then the greatest days lie ahead.

The Vision of Crossroads

Crossroads exist in order that the young adults at Family Church have a place to connect and to grow as fully devoted Disciples of Christ. We long to see young adults empowered and encouraged to embrace their faith and personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to touch those around them through the message of salvation.

As a ministry of Family Church it is our desire to help young adults connect to the larger vision of Family Church. Our church believes that families are at the heart of God and should be at the heart of the Church. We understand that the majority of the people attending Crossroads have not begun families but most will be husbands, wives, fathers, and mothers in the future. We believe that helping young adults become the people God created them to be during this time in their life will be foundational to them becoming the spouses and parents that live life the way God meant it to be lived in the future.

We want to see campuses and workplaces affected through the lives and examples of young adults today, and we desire to see these same people become the leaders of Godly families in the future.

Experience

Weekly Service

Crossroads weekly services are at 7:00 on Wednesday nights. The service takes place in a coffeehouse environment in the Richardson Family Center (across the street from the main auditorium). The service is built on three core ideas: a focus on building community, a commitment to heartfelt worship, and biblically based teaching. We want this service to be a life giving time in the middle of the week. Therefore, we try to form a relaxed environment but an environment that is fertile ground for growth and worship as a community of young adults.

Small Groups

Small Groups happen on two Sunday nights every month. This is a smaller group than our Wednesday night service and it is focused on discipleship of believers.

Monthly Activities

We try to have at least one activity every month. This is a chance to get away from the church building in order to connect and grow as friends and to enjoy a fun time together. These will be posted on our main page so come check one out.
